BREAKING: STATEMENT OF HANK GILBERT ON GOHMERT VOTE AGAINST US POST OFFICE
August 22, 2020
The following is the statement of Hank Gilbert (D-Tyler) on Congressman Louie Gohmert’s vote today against legislation providing additional funding to the U.S. Postal Service:
“Louie Gohmert gave the middle finger to every person in our district who depends on the post office for shipment of medications, medical devices, and more today, with his vote on House Resolution 1092.
It is one thing to stand with the President when you believe as he does on a moral issue. It is quite another to support this administration’s assault on a necessary government service that has existed since near the dawn of the republic.
Louie Gohmert’s vote today clearly shows he is out of touch with the people of his district, who use, support, and rely on the U.S. Post Office.
Gohmert’s vote today is the height of a disgusting charade he has perpetuated in Congress for 16 years whereby he tells the district he is working for them, and votes against their interest at every turn.
Not counting his 62 votes to do away with the Affordable Care Act and remove pre-existing condition protections for East Texans, this is up there in the top five of the worst votes Louie has ever cast.”
